Santa Maria Manuela

Portugalin lipun alla purjehtiva Santa Maria Manuela on rakennettu vuonna 1937.

“SANTA MARIA MANUELA” (SMM) is a four masted gaff schooner initially launched in 1937, built by Companhia Uniao Fabril, in Lisbon. She began operating in cod fishing being one of the most beautiful vessels of the so famous Portuguese White Fleet. In 1993, due to obsolescence, she was abated to the fishing fleet, being partially demolished, except the hull that was preserved. In 2007, the Portuguese company Pascoal & Filhos became the owner of the hull and started building the new SMM, which was launched in May 2010.

“SANTA MARIA MANUELA”, a sea training vessel, will be simultaneously involved in sail training, thematic purposes – such as astronomy, whale and bird watching – diving and other activities, being able to embark trainees and passengers in a total of 50, providing them a unique learning and fellowship experience.
